In brief...
The SOCIO-BEE project will study the facilitation of structures to increase citizen engagement and awareness of climate change through experimentation and monitoring of the environment. It aims to develop low-cost technological innovations and instruments that will tangibly contribute to the overall pro-climate campaign, with primary focus on improving air-quality in urban areas.
Our role
VUB-HALL leads WP6 “Law and Ethics: Data Protection and Privacy”, aiming to offer guidance and assistance in relation to legal and ethical matters, with emphasis on fundamental rights and freedoms and in particular, data protection and privacy. We also monitor and report on the efforts of the consortium towards legal obligations and ethics commitments. The work involves conducting a comprehensive impact assessment (privacy, data protection, human rights, the use of AI, gender equality & inclusivity [led by a different partner]), and creating a knowledge hub for the future user, i.e. citizen scientist. Moreover, VUB-HALL is also responsible for producing the Data Management Plan in WP1 “Project Management”.
