In brief...
The HOMAGE project introduces a novel European reference framework for Critical Infrastructure (CI) resilience by establishing a paradigm shift toward human-AI co-reasoning. Grounded in human-centred research and continuously validated by industry practitioners, this framework integrates social sciences, cognitive modelling, and artificial intelligence to enhance operational decision-making under intense pressure. To achieve this, the project models human cognition under stress using proprietary predictive tools while simultaneously deploying a multi-dimensional model to assess cascading and compounding risks. These innovations are integrated into a suite of interoperable tools designed to deliver real-time forecasting, adaptive decision support, privacy-preserving insider-risk monitoring, and scenario-based resilience training.
Our role
VUB-HALL plays an important role in HOMAGE as the project’s key partner for legal and ethical compliance, monitoring the development and deployment of the project’s AI-based solutions in accordance with European legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements. VUB-HALL leads T2.4 on the Ethical and Legal Compliance Framework, covering GDPR, the AI Act, CER, NIS2 and related sectoral legislation, and is responsible for the project’s Privacy & Compliance Framework and Ethical/SSH Alignment Report. VUB-HALL also contributes to the development and validation of the AI models, pilot activities, dissemination, standardisation and policy uptake, helping ensure that HOMAGE’s technologies are privacy-preserving, transparent, explainable, accountable and human-centred.
