Wenkai Li

Wenkai Li is a PhD researcher in law at the Health and Ageing Law Lab (HALL) and the Law, Science, Technology and Society Research Group (LSTS) at VUB. He started his position in February 2022 under the supervision of Prof. Paul Quinn.

Wenkai's research focuses on the intersection of law, ethics, health and technology, with particular interests in privacy and data protection, health data governance, AI regulation, and the ethical, legal and societal aspects (ELSA) of health research. His doctoral research examines the secondary use of electronic health data for research purposes under the European Health Data Space (EHDS).

Wenkai has been contributing to several EU-funded research projects, including FACILITATE, MIREYA and HOMAGE, and to the preparation of EU research funding proposals.

Before joining VUB, Wenkai completed an LL.M. in Advanced Studies in Law and Digital Technologies at Leiden University, the Netherlands, and worked as a research assistant at the Center for Law and Digital Technologies (eLaw) at Leiden Law School. He obtained his LL.B. in China.
