
UNESCO Chair in Bioethics is organizing the 14th World Conference on Bioethics, Medical Ethics & Health Law taking place in Porto, Portugal on May 11-14, 2020. Three HALL members will give presentations based on their research activities. Audrey van Scharen will speak at the panel "Informed Consent" on the topic "The Belgian case of presumed consent: Can leftover human tissues and the linked health data be used for scientific research without the active consent of the patient?". Istvan Borocs will share some of his research outcomes on the topic "None but Ourselves Can Free Our Minds'(?) - The Contribution of Hospitals' Practices to the Responsible Development of Commercial Brain-Computer Interfaces" at the panel dedicated to "Human Rights." Anastasiya Kiseleva at the panel "Medical Law" will discuss the topic "AI as a Medical Device: Is it Enough to Ensure Performance Transparency and Accountability in Healthcare?"
