Call for Applications: – Business Development Manager
The Cyber and Data Security (CDSL) and the Health and Aging Law Lab (HALL), part of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, are looking for a Business Development Manager (the “Manager”) to join their teams, based at the VUB campus in Etterbeek in Brussels. The function will assist in their drive for professionalization and outreach of their activities.
The Cyber and Data Security Lab (CDSL) aims to explore the legal aspects of cybersecurity and information security. As per its mission statement, CDSL aims to further knowledge, promote awareness, and foster new ideas within the legal framework on cybersecurity and information security, both globally and within the EU. To this end it carries out funded research, assumes advisory roles, publishes its findings and encourages international dialogue within its fields of expertise.
The Health and Aging Law Lab (HALL) is a team of researchers who are specialised in themes linked to matters of health and ageing. In particular, its members conduct research in multi-disciplinary areas such as privacy and data protection; use of advanced technologies in healthcare, pharmaceutical development and research; e-Health and m-Health; healthy ageing. HALL aims to explore synergies between these researchers and as a result provide for a co-ordinated research focus and output.
Description of the position:
The Manager will be responsible for the establishment of new research consortia and professionalization of the activities of CDSL and HALL. In particular this will involve networking activities, negotiation and discussion with potential consortium members and outreach and dissemination efforts. Other key activities will include:
- Writing tenders and project applications in English;
- Liaising with experts, professors, trainers, participants and partners worldwide;
- Implementing and coordinating projects and training seminars;
- Finding new initiatives and opportunities for business development;
- Attending meetings and events including travel;
- Budgeting and reporting.
Required profile:
- An IOF Profile compatible background (a doctorate or sufficient years working for a research orientated organization).
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in Business Development In academic or research orientated organisations
- A good knowledge of European Funding Schemes
- Excellent writing English writing skills
- Computer literacy;
- Good analytical and organisational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines;
- Open personality with strong interpersonal, communication and networking skills and a flexible and dynamic attitude.
