This privacy notice explains how we, the Health and Ageing Law Lab (HALL) at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), collect and process personal data generated from participants who register to attend any of the ‘HELT Talks’ sessions. Any personal data we collect is processed in compliance with the EU GDPR as implemented in Belgium, as well as relevant VUB policies.
DATA COLLECTION
When you register to participate at a HELT Talks session through our website, we collect the following information:
• Name
• Surname
• Email
• Job position (optional)
• Organisation name (optional)
• Organisation type
PURPOSE OF DATA PROCESSING
The contact information we collect from registered participants (i.e. Name, Surname, Email) is used for the following purposes:
• To complete your registration to participate at a HELT Talks session
• To provide any additional information or updates related to a HELT Talks session
• To facilitate communications between the HELT Talks organisers and participants
This information can also be used for purposes of providing you with updates or information about forthcoming HELT Talks sessions, the HELT Symposium, or other events organised by HALL, so long as you have provided your consent to receive any such communications in the registration form.
The information we collect on the professional background of registered participants (i.e. Job position, Organisation name, Organisation type) is used to better tailor the thematic areas we choose to explore in future HELT Talks sessions.

DATA SHARING
We will not share your personal data with any third parties. We don’t sell or monetise your personal data.\
DATA RETENTION
We retain your personal information to fulfill the necessary purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. Once those purposes have been fulfilled, this data will be deleted.

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
